It thrives in high-altitude environments, usually ranging from 1,300 to 2,400 meters above sea level, where it is exposed to specific montane climatic conditions and distinct cloud forest humidity levels.

Botanically, it is an evergreen shrub characterized by its woody stems and elliptical leaves. During its active growth phase, it forms dense thickets. Its flowers are distinctively shaped like tubes and appear in shades of blue and purple, creating a stunning landscape phenomenon when they bloom simultaneously across vast slopes.

Cultivation requirements for this species are quite demanding, necessitating a stable, cool environment with high atmospheric humidity.
