Swamp meadow-grass

Swamp meadow-grass (Poa palustris L.) is a perennial grass species belonging to the Poaceae family. In agricultural settings, it is recognized as a high-yielding forage crop, particularly valued for its ability to thrive in wet, moisture-rich environments where other agricultural grasses fail to establish effectively.

The plant is native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, spanning across Europe, Asia, and North America. Its natural habitat includes floodplains, wet meadows, and marshy terrain. Due to its evolutionary adaptation to such environments, the species exhibits a remarkable tolerance for flooding and periods of waterlogged soil conditions.
