Shepherd's cress (lat. Teesdalia nudicaulis) is a small annual or winter-annual plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family. In agriculture, it is primarily identified as a wild plant that often appears in fields, pastures, and disturbed land, reflecting specific environmental conditions such as soil acidity and low nutrient content.

The plant is native to Europe and has established itself in various temperate regions across the globe. It favors open habitats with sandy or gravelly soils where moisture is available in the early spring but may be limited later in the season. Its ability to complete a life cycle in a short period makes it a successful colonizer of sparse vegetation areas.

The species is generally not susceptible to common agricultural pests and diseases that affect commercial brassicas due to its specific ecological niche and short lifespan.
