Native to East Asia, specifically regions within China, Japan, and the Himalayas, this species thrives in cool, moist environments. Its natural habitat is typically under a canopy of trees, where the organic-rich soil and dappled sunlight provide ideal growth conditions. Understanding these origins is key to replicating the correct environment in a domestic garden setting.
Botanically, Tiarella polyphylla is characterized by its rhizomatous growth habit, which allows it to spread gradually and form dense mats.
