This species is native to the tropical regions of South America, specifically Brazil. Adapted to the environment of tropical forests, the plant exhibits significant ecological plasticity. In horticulture, it is cultivated primarily as an ornamental plant for greenhouses, terrariums, and interior design, valued for its unique structural appearance.

Botanically, the plant develops a rosette of stiff, narrow leaves covered with specialized trichomes. These scales allow the plant to absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the air.
