Marsh St. John's-wort (Triadenum virginicum) is a herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the Hypericaceae family. While historically categorized within the genus Hypericum, it is now distinguished as a member of the Triadenum genus, characterized by its unique reproductive structures and specific gland distribution across its leaves and floral parts.
The plant is native to North America, primarily distributed across the eastern United States and parts of Canada. Its natural habitat includes marshes, swamps, boggy areas, and the edges of ponds and streams. This preference for hydrophytic environments defines its ecological niche and its high water requirements, making it an excellent candidate for wet-site restoration projects.
