The Formosa toad lily (Tricyrtis formosana Baker) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Liliaceae family. This plant serves as an excellent decorative choice for damp, shaded garden areas, blooming late in the season when most other flowers have faded.

Native to Taiwan, this plant naturally occurs in mountain forests and along stream banks. In agricultural and horticultural practices, it has become a popular perennial in temperate zones. The species thrives in regions where it can mimic its native environment, preferring consistently moist conditions and protection from the harsh, direct afternoon sun which can scorch its foliage.

Botanically, the plant features upright or arching stems that grow up to 80 centimeters tall. Disease issues are typically limited to fungal infections like crown rot, which are almost exclusively caused by poor drainage and waterlogged soil conditions.
