Rock clover (Trifolium saxatile) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family. Unlike standard agricultural clovers, this species is specifically adapted to life in high-altitude or rocky environments, showcasing unique physiological resilience to harsh climates.

The plant originates from the mountainous regions of Europe and is typically found in arid, rocky habitats. Its distribution area is characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations and stony soils, where it has evolved to thrive where conventional forage crops would struggle to survive.

Botanically, the plant is distinguished by its compact growth habit and dense pubescence on leaves and stems.
