The species originates from the arid regions of northern Mexico, specifically within the states of Coahuila and San Luis Potosí. In its natural habitat, it grows in limestone crevices, thriving in nutrient-poor, rocky substrates. This specific environment has driven the evolution of its specialized root system, which acts as a robust water storage organ.
