Hemp-leaved nettle (Latin: Urtica cannabina) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Urticaceae family. It is distinct from the common stinging nettle due to its deeply pinnately lobed leaves, which bear a striking resemblance to those of cannabis, hence its specific botanical epithet.
The native range of this species extends across Siberia, Mongolia, China, and Central Asia. It thrives in open, sunny habitats such as riparian meadows, rocky slopes, and disturbed soils. Because of its hardy nature and aggressive root system, it often dominates in locations where the soil is nutrient-rich and moist.
