Vanda arbuthnotiana is a rare species of tropical epiphytic plants belonging to the Orchidaceae family. This culture is a monopodial orchid that naturally grows on the trunks and branches of trees, using them as support and absorbing nutrients from humid air and atmospheric precipitation.

The natural distribution area of this plant is the tropical forests of India. The culture prefers conditions with high air humidity and stable temperature regimes characteristic of the monsoon climate. In an agricultural context, this plant is valued as an elite decorative species requiring specific maintenance conditions close to its natural habitat.

Botanical features include a powerful root system covered with a thick layer of velamen, which actively absorbs moisture. The leaves of this species are dense, strap-shaped, and arranged oppositely along an upright stem. Inflorescences form from leaf axils, bearing several large, expressive flowers with the shape of sepals and petals characteristic of the genus.

Cultivation techniques require strict adherence to a temperature range of +20…+30°C and high air humidity (70% and above). Large pieces of pine bark or charcoal are usually used as a substrate, or the plants are grown with an open root system in hanging baskets. Intense lighting is an important factor; however, direct sunlight must be diffused to prevent leaf plate burns.

Commercial and hobbyist use is limited to breeding and professional orchid collections. The main maintenance challenges are associated with susceptibility to fungal diseases and pests. Typical problems include:
