Botanically, the plant is distinguished by its unique branching pattern. The side shoots grow irregularly, resulting in a shape that resembles a fir tree branch, which is the primary reason for its common name, distinguishing it from other Vesicularia species.

The culture requires specific environmental conditions to thrive. It prefers a temperature range between 18°C and 25°C. Clean water is crucial, as the moss is prone to accumulating detritus, which can inhibit photosynthesis and trigger the growth of unwanted algae within the moss carpet.

Agronomic practices for this species focus on light and nutrition management. While it can grow in low-light conditions, brighter light promotes a denser growth habit. Supplementing with CO2 and micro-fertilizers is highly recommended for faster expansion and healthier coloration.
