The plant is native to the central ridge of Florida, USA, where it thrives in scrub and pine flatwood ecosystems. These areas are characterized by deep, sandy, and well-drained soils. Due to its restricted natural range and habitat specificity, Warea carteri is classified as a species of conservation concern, making it a subject of ecological study rather than commercial cultivation.
Botanically, Warea carteri is an annual herb featuring an erect stem that can reach heights of up to 80 cm. It possesses alternate, narrow leaves and produces delicate white to pale-pink flowers.
