The plant originates from the high-altitude volcanic regions of Mexico and Guatemala. It is typically found at elevations exceeding 3000 meters above sea level, where it has evolved to thrive in specialized environmental niches characterized by thin, rocky, and well-drained volcanic soils.

Botanically, Weldenia candida displays a rosette growth pattern with succulent, lanceolate leaves. The flowers are distinguished by their pure white, three-petaled structure and prominent golden-yellow anthers. The root system is somewhat tuberous, allowing the plant to store energy and survive the harsh conditions of its natural high-mountain habitat.

Cultivation requirements are strict, focusing on excellent drainage to mimic mountainous scree environments. The soil should be porous and mineral-based. During the growing season, consistent moisture is necessary, but the plant requires a distinct dry rest period during winter to prevent root rot, which is the most significant threat to its survival in captivity.
