Description
The causative agent of the disease is the Alphanucleorhabdovirus melongenae, which belongs to the Rhabdoviridae family. This viral pathogen invades the nuclear machinery of plant cells, severely disrupting metabolic processes and genetic regulation within the host plant's internal system.
The primary host crop for this virus is the eggplant (Solanum melongena). Despite its relatively narrow host range, the pathogen poses a significant threat to large-scale eggplant production in warm climates, where environmental conditions are favorable for the survival and spread of its insect vectors.
