Affected crops and economic impact. The virus primarily infects clover species (Trifolium spp.), which are vital forage crops. The economic damage stems from reduced biomass yields and weakened plant vigor. As an infection often persists over years, it impacts the long-term sustainability of pastures and seed production sites, leading to decreased forage quality.
