Grapevine line pattern virus, or Anulavirus glpv, is a viral pathogen that primarily impacts the health and productivity of grapevines. It functions by disrupting the physiological processes within the vascular tissue, leading to a systemic infection that compromises the plant's structural and metabolic integrity.
The primary host for this virus is the grapevine (Vitis vinifera). A significant challenge in managing this pathogen is its ability to exist in a latent state for extended periods. During this phase, plants show no external signs of disease while actively harboring the virus, which facilitates its spread through propagation material.
Symptoms typically become visible during the active growth season. Affected vines exhibit patterns of chlorotic spots, rings, or line patterns on the leaf laminae. In severe cases, foliage may appear distorted or mottled.
