Badnavirus epsilondioscoreae is a viral plant disease caused by a species of the genus Badnavirus. This pathogen belongs to the pararetrovirus group, which utilizes a reverse transcription process for its replication cycle. The virus establishes a systemic infection, moving through the plant's vascular system to disrupt physiological integrity.

The primary host for this pathogen is the yam (Dioscorea spp.), a vital crop in many tropical regions. The virus infects the plant cells, leading to substantial yield losses and reducing the starch content and general quality of the harvested tubers, which directly affects local food security and trade.

Symptoms of the disease manifest as classic viral mosaic patterns, chlorosis, and vein banding on the leaves.
