The primary host of this virus is Blainvillea acmella. Due to the nature of the transmission mechanism, the virus poses a latent risk to various surrounding crops, especially in environments where the host plant is abundant. The virus replicates within the host's cells, effectively hijacking the plant's resources for its own proliferation.

Symptoms of the infection typically manifest as foliar mosaic, chlorotic mottling, leaf curling, and severe stunting.
