Jatropha nigeria begomovirus (Begomovirus jatrophanigeriaense) is a viral pathogen belonging to the Geminiviridae family. It is a significant biological threat to Jatropha curcas, a plant cultivated globally for its potential in biodiesel production.

The virus acts as a systematic pathogen, spreading through the phloem of the host plant. It causes extensive disruption to the plant's metabolic pathways, resulting in stunted growth and drastically reduced yields of seeds and oil content, which are the primary agricultural outputs of this species.

Clinical manifestations include leaf mosaic, yellowing (chlorosis), leaf curling, and overall reduction in leaf size. In severe cases, the infected plants exhibit reduced flowering and poor fruit set, which leads to significant losses in plantation productivity.
