This virus is characterized by a circular single-stranded DNA genome and is known for causing systemic infections in host plants, leading to major physiological disruptions.

The primary hosts of this virus are members of the Malvaceae family, particularly species within the Malvastrum genus. While it initially affects specific wild species, the virus poses a latent risk to various agricultural and ornamental crops that share biological similarities with its primary hosts, potentially impacting overall crop biodiversity.

Symptoms of the infection typically manifest as vibrant yellow mosaic patterns on the leaves, severe leaf curling, and distortion.
