The pathogen is known for its ability to cause severe systemic infections that significantly impact plant growth and physiological performance.

The virus is primarily associated with Sida species, which serve as its natural host reservoir in the environment. However, due to its biological nature and the presence of efficient insect vectors, the virus poses a potential threat to commercial crops that belong to the same botanical family, potentially causing yield losses in various agricultural settings.
