Begomovirus sidaureimaculae is a plant pathogen belonging to the genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae. This virus is characterized by its single-stranded circular DNA genome. As a systemic plant disease, it invades the phloem tissues, causing long-term physiological stress to the host organism.

The primary host range includes species of the genus Sida, specifically weeds common in tropical and subtropical agricultural regions. While it primarily affects Sida species, its presence serves as a reservoir for viruses that can occasionally jump to broader categories of malvaceous crops, affecting general agricultural health.

Symptoms of the infection manifest primarily as golden yellow mosaic patterns, chlorosis, and mottling on the leaves. Infected plants typically exhibit stunted growth and leaf distortion.
