This virus specifically targets plant species within the Solanaceae family. The virus primarily affects key agricultural crops such as tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) and peppers (Capsicum spp.). By infecting the host, the virus hijacks the plant's cellular machinery to replicate, causing severe physiological stress. This interaction results in significant yield losses, reduced fruit quality, and, in severe cases, the total death of the crop plant.
