The virus is non-mechanically transmitted in nature, relying exclusively on hemipteran insect vectors, primarily whiteflies of the Bemisia tabaci complex.
The host range of this begomovirus is largely restricted to the Solanaceae family. Tomatoes, peppers, and various tobacco species are the primary economic targets for this infection. Certain wild weed species within these regions serve as critical viral reservoirs, allowing the pathogen to persist through dormant seasons and infect new crop cycles upon germination.
Clinical signs of infection include typical mosaic-like patterns and golden chlorotic spots on the foliage.
