Begomovirus solanumpallidicontorsionis is a destructive plant virus belonging to the Geminiviridae family. It is a significant pathogen that targets the vascular tissues of host plants, leading to systemic physiological disturbances and substantial yield losses in agricultural settings.

The host range primarily includes Solanaceae family members. Economic impact is most severe in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), pepper (Capsicum annuum), and eggplant crops. Various weed species belonging to the Solanaceae family often serve as alternative hosts, acting as viral reservoirs during non-cropping seasons.

Symptoms typically manifest as severe leaf curling, twisting, and puckering, accompanied by chlorosis and stunted internode elongation.
