Begomovirus solanumvietnamense is a plant viral disease caused by a member of the genus Begomovirus within the Geminiviridae family. These viruses are characterized by their circular, single-stranded DNA genome. The pathogen is known for its ability to cause severe economic losses in various vegetable crops, primarily within the tropical and subtropical climate zones.

The primary hosts of this virus are members of the Solanaceae family. Crops such as tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants are highly susceptible to infection. The virus integrates into the host's cellular machinery, leading to physiological disruption and a significant reduction in biomass production, which makes crop management particularly challenging for growers.

Symptoms of the infection typically manifest as yellowing (chlorosis), leaf curling, crinkling, and mosaic patterns. Affected plants often exhibit stunted growth, reduced internode length, and a stunted, bushy appearance.
