Carlavirus necroretis is a plant viral pathogen belonging to the Carlavirus genus. It is responsible for causing significant internal tissue damage in host plants, primarily impacting the quality of the harvested produce and the health of the seed stock through systematic infection.

The primary host for this virus is the potato (Solanum tuberosum). The virus can reside within the tubers, making it a critical threat to agricultural production systems, as infected seed potatoes become the primary source of spreading the infection to subsequent generations of crops.

The main symptoms include the development of a necrotic network pattern within the tuber flesh, which frequently leads to the loss of commercial value. During the growth phase, the plant may exhibit leaf mottling, chlorosis, and stunted growth. The severity of these symptoms is often exacerbated by the stress conditions of the plant's environment.
