The virus significantly impairs the physiological processes of the tree, causing systemic infection that persists throughout the plant's lifespan.

The primary hosts of this pathogen are trees within the Populus genus, including various species used in industrial forestry and urban landscaping. While mature trees may tolerate the infection, young seedlings and clonal plantations are highly susceptible.
