Cheravirus pruni is a plant pathogen classified within the genus Cheravirus. It is responsible for causing mosaic-like symptoms in stone fruit trees, significantly impacting the health and agricultural productivity of commercial and private orchards.

The primary hosts of this virus include various species of Prunus, most notably plums, damsons, and occasionally sweet cherries. The virus invades the vascular system of the tree, causing systemic infection that persists throughout the entire lifespan of the host plant.

Symptoms of the infection typically manifest as chlorotic mottling, mosaic patterns, or yellow ring-spots on the leaves. In severe cases, the foliage may become deformed or curled, and the tree may show signs of stunted growth, leading to reduced photosynthesis and overall decline in vigor.

Transmission occurs primarily through human activity, including the use of infected grafting scion wood or rootstocks.
