Potato Andean mottle virus (APMoV) is a destructive plant virus belonging to the genus Comovirus, family Secoviridae. It primarily affects potato crops and is widely recognized as a significant constraint for potato production, particularly in its regions of origin in the Andean highlands of South America.

The virus has a specific host range, mainly centered on species within the Solanaceae family. Potato is the primary economic host, although various wild solanaceous species can serve as natural reservoirs for the virus. The impact of the virus is characterized by systemic infection, which depletes the plant's resources and drastically reduces tuber yield.

Symptoms of APMoV infection typically manifest as distinct mottle patterns, chlorosis, and crinkling of the foliage. Infected plants often exhibit stunted growth and loss of vigor.
