Ullucus mosaic virus is a plant pathogen belonging to the Comoviridae family, specifically recognized as a significant viral agent affecting Ullucus tuberosus. As an obligate intracellular parasite, the virus relies entirely on the host plant's machinery for replication, causing systemic infection that disrupts essential biological processes and reduces crop quality and yield.

The primary host for this virus is the ulluco, a tuber-bearing crop native to the Andean highlands. Due to its systemic nature, the virus permeates the plant's vascular system, affecting both the leaves and the tubers. In agricultural settings, the persistence of the virus in infected tubers ensures its transmission to subsequent generations if proper selection is not practiced.
