Deltapartitivirus fici is a plant virus belonging to the genus Deltapartitivirus within the Partitiviridae family. As a viral pathogen characterized by a double-stranded RNA genome, it acts as an intracellular parasite that can significantly alter the normal physiological processes of its host plant. Understanding its biology is critical for managing fig crop health.
The primary host for this virus is the fig tree (Ficus carica) and other related ornamental Ficus species. The virus is known to establish a systemic infection, moving through the vascular tissues of the plant. Because it often causes persistent or latent infections, the virus can remain undetected in the host tissues for extended periods of time.
