Orchid dichorhavirus (Dichorhavirus orchidaceae) is a viral pathogen classified within the genus Dichorhavirus. This virus is a significant concern for orchid growers, as it causes chronic infections that impact the physiology, growth, and aesthetic quality of orchids belonging to various genera within the Orchidaceae family.
The virus has a wide host range among cultivated orchids, including popular species such as Phalaenopsis, Cymbidium, and various intergeneric hybrids. Because the virus colonizes the vascular tissues of the plant, it facilitates a systemic spread that inevitably compromises the long-term health and vitality of the orchid.
Symptoms of the disease are diverse and can often be confused with nutritional deficiencies or other abiotic stresses. Common clinical manifestations include chlorotic or necrotic spots, ring-spot patterns on leaves, leaf distortion, and stunted development. Flowering is also negatively impacted, often resulting in flower color-breaking or malformation of the blossoms.

- Employing aggressive insect control programs to minimize potential vectors.
