Emaravirus is a genus of plant-pathogenic viruses characterized by a segmented, negative-sense single-stranded RNA genome. These pathogens are responsible for a variety of systemic diseases in perennial woody plants, shrubs, and herbaceous crops, causing chronic infections that affect the plant's overall health and physiological development.

The host range of Emaravirus is diverse and economically significant, affecting crops such as figs, blackberries, raspberries, roses, and various cereal crops. Notable species include the Fig mosaic virus and Rose rosette virus, both of which are known to cause severe damage to commercial plantations and nursery stocks worldwide.

Symptoms of Emaravirus infection typically manifest as foliar chlorosis, mosaic patterns, ring spots, vein banding, and leaf distortion. In severe cases, the infected plants may exhibit stunted growth, reduced internode length, and significantly lower fruit or flower production, which makes early detection critical for maintaining crop yield.

The transmission mechanism of Emaravirus is closely linked to eriophyid mites (family Eriophyidae).
