The disease type is categorized as a systemic latent viral infection. These viruses possess a single-stranded RNA genome and replicate within the cytoplasm of the host plant. A unique biological feature of this genus is that they do not rely on traditional insect or mite vectors for transmission, which significantly distinguishes them from other major plant viruses.
