Citrus leaf rugose virus (CLRV) is a significant viral pathogen within the Ilarvirus genus that affects citrus plantations globally. The virus is known for its ability to cause severe structural and physiological changes in host plants, leading to reduced productivity and economic losses.

This virus primarily infects various citrus species, including lemon and grapefruit trees. Because it is a systemic infection, once the virus enters the plant's vascular system, it propagates throughout the entire organism, making the plant a chronic reservoir for the pathogen.
