Inoviruses (Inoviridae) are a specific group of filamentous plant viruses that represent a significant concern in modern agriculture. They act as obligate intracellular pathogens, hijacking the metabolic machinery of host plants to replicate their single-stranded circular DNA, which leads to structural and functional damage within plant tissues.

The causative agent of the disease is a virus with a distinct morphology that allows it to maintain stability in various environmental conditions. Once introduced into the host plant, the virus spreads through the vascular system, leading to systemic infections that impact the overall development, growth rate, and vigor of the cultivated species.

Symptoms of Inovirus infection are often diverse and include systemic mosaic patterns, chlorosis, leaf curling, and severe stunting.
