Macluravirus rumicis is a viral pathogen classified within the Macluravirus genus of the Potyviridae family. This virus primarily infects plants of the Rumex genus, causing systemic infection that disrupts plant development, photosynthetic efficiency, and overall vigor of the host plant.

The host range is primarily focused on sorrel species. In agricultural settings, it affects commercial herb production, leading to significant economic losses due to the unmarketability of the symptomatic, mottled, and stunted leaves. The virus persists in the rhizomes of perennial plants, ensuring its survival from one season to the next.

Symptoms of the infection include chlorotic mosaic patterns on foliage, vein clearing, and leaf distortion.
