It is a systemic pathogen, meaning that once a vine is infected, the virus spreads through the phloem to all parts of the plant, including the roots, shoots, and leaves. This disrupts the plant's ability to efficiently transport nutrients and synthesize compounds necessary for growth.
The primary host for this virus is the grapevine (Vitis vinifera). The severity of the infection can vary depending on the grape variety and environmental stressors. While some vines might show mild symptoms, others can experience severe physiological decline, leading to reduced vigor and productivity.
