Astragalus nanovirus (lat. Nanovirus astragali) is a viral pathogen belonging to the Nanovirus genus. This disease primarily targets plant species within the genus Astragalus, causing systemic infections that impact the development and vigor of these leguminous plants.

The virus acts as a significant limiting factor for both wild populations of Astragalus and cultivated plots, particularly in regions where these plants are harvested for pharmaceutical or forage purposes. Because of its mode of transmission, the virus can quickly compromise the entire field if not managed correctly.

Diagnostic symptoms of the infection include severe stunting, leaf chlorosis, and crinkling or deformation of the foliage. Plants infected by the nanovirus often exhibit reduced flowering and poor pod set, which leads to a significant decrease in seed quality and overall biomass production.

Transmission of the virus occurs mainly through insect vectors, specifically aphids (Aphididae). These vectors acquire the virus while feeding on infected sap and transmit it to healthy plants during subsequent feeding sessions.
