Olive latent virus, classified taxonomically as Oleavirus olv, is a significant viral pathogen that affects olive trees. Belonging to the family Secoviridae, this virus often exhibits latent infection patterns, where trees may harbor the pathogen without showing immediate severe symptoms, complicating early detection.

The primary host for this virus is the European olive (Olea europaea). While some cultivars may show higher tolerance, the presence of the virus still poses a risk of chronic infection, potentially affecting the long-term productivity and overall vigor of commercial olive orchards.

Symptoms typically involve chlorotic spots, mosaic patterns on the leaves, and sometimes leaf distortion.
