Actinidia olive virus (Olivavirus actinidiae) is a specific plant pathogen that causes viral disease in various species of the Actinidia genus. As a systemic infection, it disrupts the physiological balance of the plant, often leading to reduced vegetative growth and compromised fruit quality in commercial kiwi orchards.
The virus primarily affects commercial cultivars of Actinidia, including Actinidia deliciosa. Given the economic importance of these fruit crops, the presence of such a virus can lead to significant financial losses for producers, particularly when infected nursery stock is introduced into new plantation areas.
Symptoms and signs of infection typically include chlorotic, olive-colored spots or mosaic patterns on the foliage.
