Soybean vein necrosis, caused by the virus Orthotospovirus glycininecrovenae, is a viral plant disease that significantly impacts legume production. As a member of the Orthotospovirus genus, this pathogen requires specific insect vectors to effectively transmit the infection between plants in a field environment.

The primary host for this pathogen is soybean (Glycine max). While the virus demonstrates a high affinity for soybean, its presence can be detected in various alternative hosts, including certain weed species that act as reservoirs, ensuring the survival and persistence of the virus between cropping seasons.

Symptoms typically manifest as distinct chlorotic spotting or streaks that develop along the leaf veins, later progressing into necrosis.
