Lacking a protein capsid, these pathogens rely entirely on the host plant's enzymatic machinery for replication. This parasitic interaction disrupts the plant's hormonal balance and metabolic pathways, resulting in severe stunt and structural deformations.

Host Range: The primary host for this pathogen is the cultivated chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum x morifolium). While it is highly host-specific, the viroid can persist in dormant or latent states within plant tissues, making it a major concern for greenhouse nurseries that propagate these flowers through vegetative cuttings.

Symptoms and Signs: Infected plants exhibit classic stunting symptoms, characterized by a significant reduction in overall size and height.
