This pathogen primarily invades the plant vascular system, specifically the phloem, causing a systemic infection. The virus affects a wide range of agricultural crops, particularly those in the Solanaceae and Brassicaceae families. Infection is usually permanent, leading to cumulative damage throughout the growing season. Early-stage infestation is particularly devastating to crop establishment and overall productivity.
Key symptoms include severe chlorosis, often appearing as yellowing of the leaf margins or interveinal yellowing.
