Lettuce potexvirus (Potexvirus ecslactucae) is a pathogenic virus affecting various vegetable crops, primarily within the Asteraceae family. This pathogen belongs to the Potexvirus genus and is characterized by a single-stranded RNA enclosed in a flexible, filamentous capsid. The disease type is a viral mosaic that systemically infects the vascular system of the host plant, disrupting photosynthesis and metabolic processes.

The primary crop susceptible to this disease is lettuce (Lactuca sativa). The virus can also infect weed species, which act as reservoirs for the infection during the off-season. Due to the wide range of potential hosts, this pathogen poses a significant threat to both open-field agriculture and greenhouse operations.
