This pathogen disrupts the internal physiology of the host, leading to reduced vitality and significant morphological changes in the affected plant tissue.
The primary hosts for this virus are species of the genus Araujia. Due to its specific biological requirements, the virus is most prevalent in greenhouse environments or botanical gardens where susceptible ornamental vines are grown. The transmission of the virus is typically facilitated by insect vectors, most notably aphid species, which act as non-persistent carriers of the viral particles while feeding on plant sap.
Symptoms of the infection manifest primarily on the foliage and include mosaic patterns, chlorotic mottling, leaf curling, and distortion.
