Calla mosaic virus (Potyvirus callanthis) is a significant plant pathogen that causes viral diseases in ornamental bulbous plants, particularly those belonging to the Zantedeschia genus. The causative agent is a virus from the Potyviridae family, which systemically infects plant tissues, disrupting metabolic pathways and photosynthetic efficiency.

The primary hosts for this virus are calla lilies. Under intensive greenhouse or field cultivation, the virus can spread rapidly through planting beds. Infection targets both vegetative structures and the root system, ultimately leading to a gradual decline in the quality and vigor of the cultivar over successive growing seasons.

The hallmark symptom of this infection is the development of a mosaic pattern on the leaves, characterized by alternating patches of light green and dark green, streaks, or mottling.
