Onion mosaic virus, scientifically identified as Potyvirus cebatatae, is a significant plant pathogen that severely affects onion crops worldwide. Belonging to the family Potyviridae, this virus is transmitted by aphids in a non-persistent manner and can cause systemic infection throughout the entire plant organism, leading to physiological disruption and reduced photosynthetic efficiency.
The primary hosts for this pathogen include cultivated onion species, such as Allium cepa and Allium schoenoprasum.
